    Pedro Pascal

    Pedro Pascal

    • Known For: Game of Thrones

A rising star in this day and age, Pedro Pascal, is age 39 - so not too young for the role of Dr. Strange, but not too old to realistically manage the more action-orientated scenes that Marvel films are known for. But the main reason why he is in consideration for this is because as an actor and a person in general, he is overflowing with obscene amounts of charisma. His short time on Game of Thrones has shown that he is capable of playing a likeable character, and he undoubtebly looks just right for this part. Could he be your Sorcerer Supreme?

    Mads Mikkelson

    Mads Mikkelson

    • Known For: Hannibal, Casino Royale, The Hunt

Have you watched Hannibal? Then you already know.

For those that haven't: Mads Mikkelson is currently delivering one of the greatest performances in television history. He's equally malevolent and enticing, and all the while incredibly human despite his monstrous actions. Mikkelson may be a long shot for suddenly locking down a franchise character, but his presence is like no other. (And for those that don't know if he can be believable as a protagonist, watch The Hunt)

    Aidan Gillen

    • Known For: Game of Thrones,

He looks the part, he's fiendishly machiavellian in Game of Thrones, and he's always lurking. Who better to play the Sorceror Supreme?

    Jack Coleman

    Jack Coleman

    • Known For: Heroes, Dynasty, Castle

Primarily known for being arguably the best character in NBC'S "Heroes" , even if he was more more "hero" than "super". However there's one thing Coleman has over every other actor gunning for the role: Experience. Coleman has voiced Dr. Strange in Marvel's cartoons "Ultimate Spider-Man" and "Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.", which he talks about in this interview with IGN. While he doesn't have the illustrious career of Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, or Samuel L. Jackson; It should be noted that Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, and Chris Pratt (Marvel loves its Chrises) were far from celebrities when they were initially cast, and casting Robert Downey Jr. was a massive risk. Coleman may not have name strength to him, but he has a love of the character and the right attitude to pull it off.

    Mark Wahlberg

    Mark Wahlberg

    • Known For: The Departed, The Fighter, Boogie Nights

This is dumb. This suggestion is so dumb. It just make me laugh, though. Wahlberg comes across as such an odd dude and that would be the most goddamned entertaining thing in the world to see Mark Wahlberg going "By the Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth" I would pay so much money to see that film, but I'm biased because Mark Wahlberg could literally say ANYTHING and I would be entertained.

    Adrien Brody

    Adrien Brody

    • Known For: The Pianist, King Kong, Predators

Whatever happened to Adrien Brody? The youngest actor to ever win an Oscar for Best Actor has only seen his career go downward, never really hitting stardom and never again reaching the critical acclaim that The Pianist brought him. Marvel already provided Robert Downey Jr. with his comeback, so who's to say they can't bottle lightning twice? Adrien Brody already has the hair, facial and otherwise, for the role and has a weird, distant presence that would fit our supernatural Stephen Strange. Give him a chance, eh?

    Javier Bardem

    Javier Bardem

    • Known For: No Country For Old Men, Skyfall, Bitiful

Javier Bardem had long been a highly-regarded actor, but 2007's No Country For Old Men should a new side of him: Indimidating Weirdo. Bardem has since also played a damn weird in Skyfall and The Counselor among others, so it's clear that Bardem would have the chops to play Strange, but also find ways to have fun with the role without chewing scenery. He also clearly has no qualms about ridiculous hair, which is also a plus.

    Nicolas Cage

    Nicolas Cage

    • Known For: National Treasure, Leaving Las Vegas, The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans

Who better to play Stephen Strange than the strangest actor in Hollywood? (Well, Christopher Walken is the strangest actor in Hollywood, but he's gettin' up there years-wise). Nicolas Cage has played every single type of strange there is, even bringing an oddity to his more calm roles (such as his turn as twins in Adaptation.) Cage has an unparalled screen presence and bring with him the audience's knowledge that things go get absolutely bonkers at any moment, but be able to pull back and have an air of dignity to him.

    Idris Elba

    Idris Elba

    • Known For: Luther, The Wire, Pacific Rim

Idris Elba is unable to play characters that aren't mysterious. Even his performance as Nelson Mandela had shades of "...what's this dude up to?" and his star-making turns in acclaimed television series The Wire and Luther show are just minute indicators of his wide acting range, and he has sci-fi experience with Pacific Rim. Elba's ability to portray the most steely of emotions would be incredibly well suited for Stephen Strange, and there's nothing more strange than someone who does not let all his motivations be known.

    Corey Stoll

    Corey Stoll

    • Known For: House of Cards, Midnight In Paris,

Corey Stoll gave an absolutely star-making performance in Season 1 of House of Cards, but the role I think of when trying to connect him to Stephen Strange is his brief portrayal of Ernest Hemingway in Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris. His strange, but helpful energy would be well suited to Stephen Strange, and his blank canves of a face and head would be fine placements for Doc Strange's unique style choices. Stoll missed out on his opprotunity to win the Emmy he deserved, but he's a star who just needs a platform to show everyone his stuff.

    George Clooney

    George Clooney

    • Known For: ER, Out of Sight, Ocean's Eleven, Syriana, Good Night and Good Luck, The Monuments Men

Clooney would spark up the MCU with his A List status, and could pull off the first cocky then humble and empowered Stephen Strange. If Marvel wished to skew older, he would be the perfect fit.
