    Thank You

    Thank You

    • Episode Number: S03E17
    • Featuring: Snow Golem
    • Air Date: November 23, 2011

One of Adventure Time's earliest succesful experiments in breaking from the traditional "Finn & Jake" stories. Focusing on a character whose only real exposure so far was as a bit part in the original animated short and a presence in the intro, Thank You shows us the silent, Pixar-esque story of a Snow Golem who risks his well-being to help a lost Fire Wolf pup return home. The episode was so well-recieved that it was long-listed for the Academy Award for Outstanding Animated Short.

Very few shows can introduce a brand new character, and tell their full story in the span of one episode. Less so when the episodes are 11 minutes long, however despite only being prominantly featured in one episode (and other times as a ghostly spectre) Finn's former self gave us a glimpse at Ooo of days past and another chapter in the confusing, millenial tale of Princess Bubblegum.

    • Episode Number: S06E15
    • Featuring: Peppermint Butler
    • Air Date: August 7th, 2014

We've long known that there was some dark stuff going on with Peppermint Butler, but the extent of his dark tendencies were never this clear, as his battle with Peace Master leads to him finding joy in the mutation of the Peace Master's kids. Adventure Time may be teasing the e rise of Peppermint Butler as a villian, which could be very interesting indeed: but just as much as that I'm sure we all hope that Peace Master learns to love his kids for who they are.

    Where are you, little brother?
Are you happy? Do you feel weird?
Have you changed a lot, or not?
Are you ever going to come back here?

I shouldn't have been so hasty,
You were just a little baby
    Or maybe you weren't
I'm not really sure how little brothers work.

Oh, Root Beer Guy. The journey we've had with you has been filled with hope, joy, and loss. You've been slipping through the Candy Kingdom since all the way back in Slumber Party Panic, and after 5 long seasons you finally got your chance to shine. This hard-boiled story of an Average Joe with a greater calling is inspiring, humourous, and heart-warming. Inspiration for everyone that maybe your dreams really are worth chasing.

After six seasons, we get Jake's origin story and it's suprisingly similar to the film Alien. Again following Adventure Time's love of hard-boiled detective, the fast-talking Joshua and Margaret got a mystery to inverstigate, and dog-gone it no one's gonna get away with stealing Tree Trunks's sweet, sweet pies!

    • Episode Number: S06E05
    • Featuring: Jake\'s Tail
    • Air Date: May 12, 2014

Probably the most unexpected episode of one of the most unpredictable television episodes of all time, the somber and heartfelt exploration of the difficulties of performance and artistic expression while still featuring an action-packed jailbreak plot is one of the most artistic episodes of the entire series. And the main character is Jake's TAIL. A sentient dog tale.

Who would've thought an LSP episode could pack so many feels? It's such a nice change of pace when LSP is explored as not merely a comedic figure, but as the tragic character she is. Feeling out of place in her own kingdom, unable to relate to her parents, LSP is alone. And in contemporary TV fashion, the creators of Adventure Time wrote and episode where they gave her everything, and then pull it away from her. If your heart doesn't get tugged when you realize what's going on outside the circle, you may be a sociopath.

    BMO Noire

    • Episode Number: S04E17
    • Featuring: BMO
    • Air Date: August 6, 2012

There's a mystery afoot, or should I say NOT ON a foot. Finn's sock is missing, and BMO is on the case. Adventure Time writers seem to have quite a fascination with hard-boiled detective stories, and there's not better person to hold that down than BMO, AT's regular source for all things cute and fun. Getting caught up with doozies and herrings, getting caught up in the schemes of the sensual twist Lorraine. But nothing will stop BMO when he's on the case.
