    Compelling Story

    Compelling Story

The story is both on an internal and external level, which seamlessly develops together over time. The drama of the virus outbreak in the beginning of the game is mirrored by the internal drama, which Joel experience by the loss of his child. As the story progresses, we encounter characters who have found personal reasons to continue to live in the world of despair. However, Joel has not yet found his reason. As his relationship develops with Ellie, he finds a new purpose to live. However, this internal revelation comes in conflict with the external world. He is unwilling to sacrifice Ellie to save the world.

Even without the remastered version for the PlayStation4, The Last of Us gave consumers a visual feast. This ocular celebration includes an incredibly detailed world with similar impressive character models. The main characters seem alive and responsive to their surroundings. There are few games today, where you just would like to stop playing and enjoy the virtual landscape. Exploration is not so much for finding the resources but also for the new glorious views.

    Awe abiding setting

    Awe abiding setting

The post-apocalyptic settings are quite common in media. We seem to have a grim outlook and fear of the future and what it might hold. In the Last of Us, things are not much better. However, it is not a nuclear holocaust which has caused the destruction of the world. The incurable fungus virus is spreading violently around the world. Panic and hysteria is ensured when violent infected traverse the cities.

    Engaging Characters

    Engaging Characters

The Last of Us does not give us generic characters with lacking backstory. We instantly jump into the backstory of Joel and create an important bond with his character, based upon his loss. The nature of his past makes his future encounter with Ellie interesting and engaging. Ellie’s past and goals is gradually unraveled throughout the game. The supporting characters are interesting and influence the progression and development of Joel and Ellie.

    Impressive Gameplay

    Impressive Gameplay

Joel and Ellie have to survive encounters with infected monstrosities and hostile survivors. Thankfully, the combat and movement of the characters are easy, logical and engaging.  Joel will guide Ellie through the world by carefully sneaking between enemies. The combat rewards those who aim properly and you have to be careful and spend your ammunition wisely.
