The newest addition from the Pokemon line-up is a final form of one of X &Y's starters. This water-based fighter is one of the less gimmicky new additions which will undoubtedly make it popular amongst "hardcore" gamers who just want to get the the fighting.
One of two new additions from the Fire Emblem series, Robin's fighting style will revolve around his/her use of tomes. Not only does each special attack do damage of its own, but it passively changes to damage-type of Robin's standard moveset.
This throwback inclusion more famous for his NES games than his modern ones, Little Mac is a small, agile fighter with some strongs hits. Little Mac is also a unique character in that he has a "Power Meter" which when filled has the ablity to OHKO opponents, but these strengths are bogged down by a lack of air fighting prowess. Either way, it's good to have this little guy in the ring.
Another legend of the early days of video gaming, Mega Man's moveset relies on his trademark variety of moves picked up from fallen foes involving blades, leaves, and bombs. Although the character design is of the classic NES model, Mega Man's final smash pays homage to his legacy.
The face that launched a thousand memes, Villager seems to have a pretty standard moveset that focuses on projectiles, either firing his own or catching others or using others' projectiles against them. Other unique moves include burying his opponents with his shovel, planting trees, and building houses.
One of two new additions from the Fire Emblem series, Lucina has been stated to be a moveset clone of Marth, unsurprisingly as they look very similar and Nintendo is putting a focus on female variants of new characters (and since Lucinda spent portions of Awakening masquerading as Marth).
The Outer Space liason of Super Mario Galaxy who looks nothing like Peach not even a little bit what are you talking about joins the fight with her lil' star buddy Luma in a tag-team operation that mirrors the way the seemingly not-returning Ice Climbers fought in previous installments.
The man himself, video gaming's very first celebrity, makes an appeareance to show these youngin's what it means to last over 30 years in this industry. With moves that bring 8-bit fruit, his classic "Pizza missing a slice" arcade appearence, and a variety of old-school Namco characters, Pac-Man is bound to be a fun favorite.
This fairly obscure choice for newcomer, primarily known for a game series that only has 3 games, brings the strongerst implementation of the "customized specials" feature in SSB4. Instead of just alterations on her base move, Palutena has a variety of incredibly different abilities that can be customized to the player's preference, which will make her pretty powerful in skilled hands.
Probably the most inspired choice for a Smash fighter, the Wii Fit Trainer's moveset is almost exclusively yoga poses. This calm, zen approach to fighting will lead to her being popular with players who don't like a lot of bells and whistles with their characters.
With a variety of customization options, both in moves and in visual styling, Mii Fighter's can punch, slice, or shoot their way through the competition. Although they won't be playable online, it's a fun way for you and your friends to visualize being the crap out of each other without actually having to punch each other. (If you want a reason to punch each other, that's what Mario Party is for)
The 4th third party character to be added to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. An exciting addition to the rapidly growing roster as he adds a unique moveset. His final smash has been confirmed as him breaking through a giant wall and sending other fighters flying of the stage. I hope you are as excited as I am to final play as Kool-Aid Man in Smash!
Phoenix Wright's moveset changes up the battle. His ability to accuse the other characters gives him the upper hand in combat. His final smash, Objection, sends all the opposition to jail. I look forward to playing as him.
Masahiro Sakurai finally joins the battle! Not only can you play as Sakurai, but he has alternative costumes of Iwata and Reggie. Sakurai is tired of requests. All he really wanted to do was fight against the characters in Smash! That was his true dream, and it finally came true. He is the most OP character in the game. His regular attack does 666% and his final smash always hits no matter what.
No Otacon, this isn't Snake. In the next Super Smash Bros, Otacon steps in to bring the brawl. Otacon makes use of his robots, including Metal Gear Rex to take on the competition. With his mix of ranged gun and robotic combat, he's sure to be one of the best Smashers you'll find.
As an obvious fan favorite for its powerful attacks, Magikarp seemed like an easy choice for Sakurai. Due to time constraints, Magikarp could not be added to Brawl, where it would replace Pikachu. Sakurai decided that the way to please the most fans would be to add them both. In SSB4, Sakurai pleases both Pikachu and Magikarp fans.
After one of the irritating people discovered more characters could be added (Kool-aid Man) more of these terrifying types joined the battle. With the ability to type up new character ideas and play as them, these fighters are unique and powerful. Their final smash is vote for their own characters, which irritates the people who use this site.
Alpaca Evolution is a game loved by many in which you play as an alpaca and devour other alpacas to evolve into grotesque forms until you devour God himself. His moveset revolves around eating other fighter and growing until he devours the stage and all thats left is blank space.
A fan favorite after being scrapped in both Melee and Brawl, Home Depot comes to Smash 4 with a cult following behind him. Revealed in a stunnning triple-release trailer alongside Shrek and Cory Baxter, Home Depot has been a crowd pleaser for months. After Sakurai detailing that characters had no size limit with the inclusion of Ridley, Home Depot was an instant request, and it looks like Mashedpotato Samurai was listening.
"Rocky and Bullwinkle sneak their way into battle as you laugh"
Rocky and Bullwinkle are replacing the Ice Climbers in this installment of Smash Bros. Theirs combos are unbeatable, with Bullwinkle throwing Rocky through the field. You will need 3 hands to be able to play as these characters.
When Sakurai brought back the GameCube controller with the new adapter, he realized he could have players control their GameCubes on screen with their GameCube controllers, allowing the controller to finally live up to its name. It's side B is to launch mini-disks, and it's side A allows the GameCube to launch its controllers at the other fighters. It's final smash let's it play melee, in which the characters are too high definition for it to process, so they disappear from the stage.
When Sakurai announced Home Depot, Target was a definite yes. Sakurai makes an annual trip to Target everytime he comes to America. He loves the low prices, and after putting in home Depot he relized it would only make sense. Target is a clone of Home Depot with a few moves changed. Instead of selling the characters paint and other DIY renovations, it sells many things such as toilet paper. I hope Target is as good as its turning out to be.
Kim Jong Un is a highly anticipated character and since he's been requested since 64 came out, Sakurai finally listened to the people. Kim Jong Un adds a unique moveset which involves him killing his people and his uncle. He also threatens to drop a nuke on the other players.
Miley Cyrus is an interesting addition to the roster. Sakurai stated in an interview that he was obcessed with Miley since Hannah Montana. When asked by an American (and I quote) Why Sakurai, WHYYYYYY! He answered that he has a strange fetish for woman that swing on wrecking balls. In her final smash her tung extends and whips the opponent into a wrecking ball which knocks them off the stage.
After Lucina's conception as a Marth alternate-turned-clone, many players wondered if any character would get the same treatment. Turns out, Sakurai had a big surprise.
"King Koopa was originally going to be an alternate costume for Bowser, but had enough variation to allow him to enjoy his own character slot," said Sakurai. Koopa will feature unique voice acting along with standalone animations and new moves, such as the reimagined Final Smash, "Inexplicable Inflation of the Stomach," a fan favorite amongst deviantART visitors.
