Big Brother (UK) - Season 5

Big Brother 2004, also known as Big Brother 5, was the fifth series of the British reality television series Big Brother, in which a number of contestants live in an isolated house trying to avoid being evicted by the public with the aim of winning a large cash prize at the end of the run. Due to the poor reaction to the previous series, the theme for this year's series was "Big Brother turns evil", in which the housemates were subject to a more cruel environment. It launched on Channel 4 on the same night the last episode of Friends aired, and the day was promoted as 'Black Friday'. The series began on 28 May 2004, and ended on 6 August in the same year and was the second-most watched series of Big Brother UK (the first being Big Brother 3), averaging 5.1 million viewers. Nadia Almada won the series, and was the first of two transsexual contestants to do so, the second being Luke Anderson, who won the show in 2012. Nadia Almada returned in 2010 for Ultimate Big Brother and entered on Day 1. Michelle Bass and Victor Ebuwa later joined the House on Day 4. Nadia and Michelle became the third and fourth evicted housemates respectively but Victor made the final and achieved fourth

    Stephanie Izard

Stephanie Izard (born October 30, 1976) is an American chef residing in Chicago, Illinois, and was the winner of the fourth season of Top Chef, Bravo's cooking competition show. To date, she is the only woman in nine seasons to have won Top Chef. Stephanie Izard was born in the Chicago suburb of Evanston but grew up in Stamford, Connecticut, where her parents got her hooked on food with their themed dinner parties, weekly menus posted on the fridge and a life-changing trip to Epcot where Steph couldn’t wait to get home and recreate the crepes she ate in “France.” As much as she loved cooking (and eating), she went the traditional route first and got a sociology degree from University of Michigan. Pretty quickly after that, she discovered that all she really wanted to do was cook. She attended the Le Cordon Bleu program at the Scottsdale Culinary Institute. After graduating from the Le Cordon Bleu program at the Scottsdale Culinary Institute, she worked at the Camelback Inn Resort & Spa, as well as a couple other restaurants, but then made the very spur-of-the-moment decision to pack up and move to Chicago in 2001. She’s been in love with the city ever since. After landing in

    Big Brother - Season 3

The third season of Big Brother, the American reality TV show, aired 32 episodes during the summer of 2002, from July 10 to September 25. In this season, a new twist was added to the game, in that the HouseGuests could compete for a Power of Veto. At a weekly meeting, the winner could decide to veto a HouseGuest that the Head of Household had placed on the nomination block. In this season, it was not possible for a nominee to use the veto on themselves until the "Golden Power of Veto" was introduced. This was the first and only season to have every evicted HouseGuest vote for a winner. In Season 2, Justin was not allowed to do so, due to his expulsion from the game. Along with Big Brother 4, it has been released on DVD. However, Big Brother 3 is the only one to be released as a complete season set. Runner-Up Danielle Reyes and fellow HouseGuest Marcellas Reynolds returned to compete in Big Brother 7: All-Stars, where they placed 6th and 9th respectively. Winner Lisa Donahue was a candidate to return for Big Brother: All Stars, but was ultimately not selected to return. HouseGuest Amy returned that season as well to do a segment on her former friendship with Marcellas. She later

Big Brother (UK) - Season 7

Big Brother 2006, also known as Big Brother 7, was the seventh series of the British reality television series Big Brother. It aired on Channel 4 from 18 May 2006 to 18 August 2006, lasting 93 days; fifteen days longer than the previous series. The show format was unchanged from previous years. A number of contestants (known as "housemates") lived in a purpose-built house at Elstree Studios, and were isolated from the rest of the world. Each week, housemates nominated two of their peers for eviction, and the housemates who received the most nominations would face a public vote. Of these, one would eventually leave, having been "evicted" from the House. However, there were exceptions to this process as dictated by Big Brother, known as "twists". In the final week, there were six housemates remaining, and the public voted for who they wanted to win. Pete Bennett received the most votes, and won the prize money of £100,000. This series proved to be popular, having a series average of 4.7 million viewers. In 2010, Big Brother 7 was voted the public's favourite series of Big Brother, as revealed during Big Brother's Big Awards Show. Housemate Nikki Grahame returned in the later Ultimate

Dancing with the Stars - Season 3

The third season of Dancing With the Stars premiered on September 12, 2006 and ended November 15, 2006. The number of couples expanded from ten the previous season to 11. For this season, the scoring system was changed. Fan vote only counted for 25% of the total score and scoring was now translated directly from percentages rather than into ordinals. The judges scores were added up, and each performer was given points based on the percentage of the total points distributed among all performers. (For example, a team received a score of 25. A total of 207 points were awarded to all nine performers. The team received 12.08% of that total, so that team earned 12.08 points.) The fan vote was handled the same way, with the points based on how much of the total fan vote the star received. (So, in the same example, if the team earned 15% of the total fan vote, their grand total is 27.08 points.) The results shows of this season featured the Slim Fast Dance Challenge, where Tysonia Sichinga and Christian Perry illustrated how exercise such as dancing could aid weight loss. Unfortunately, Tysonia wound up gaining 5 pounds from what she said, "too much Slim Fast". The season finale brought in

Strictly Come Dancing - Season 5

The fifth series of Strictly Come Dancing began on BBC One on 29 September 2007, with Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly returning as presenters. The first programme was a catch-up show and preview to the new series, before the start of the competition on 6 October. The show ran for 12 weeks, up to 22 December. The show featured 14 new celebrities, who had been paired with 14 professional dancers. In a change to the previous format, the results show was on Sunday, rather than later on Saturday. The fifth series was also the first in which all the professional dancers from the previous year have returned. The winners of this series were Alesha Dixon and Matthew Cutler. Each show works in a similar way. The couples will, in turn, perform their dance for the judges, the audience and the public. The judges (Craig Revel Horwood, Arlene Phillips, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli) then review their performance, and give them a score out of ten. When all the couples have danced, they are inserted onto the leader board, where the highest ranked couple will get the highest amount of points available, and the lowest ranked couple getting one point. However, the judges' score only counts for 50% of the

Big Brother (UK) - Season 4

Big Brother 2003, also known as Big Brother 4, was the fourth series of the British reality television series Big Brother, in which a number of contestants live in an isolated house trying to avoid being evicted by the public with the aim of winning a large cash prize at the end of the run. The series launched on Channel 4 on 23 May 2003 and ran until 25 July 2003. This series saw several surprises. Four housemates were nominated on the opening night after the housemates were told to make instant nominations based on first impressions, with every housemate receiving even one nomination facing the public vote; of the four, Anouska was evicted one week later. One housemate, Cameron Stout, accepted a challenge from Big Brother and discovered it meant spending a week in the Big Brother Africa house (one of the African housemates, Gaetano Kagwa, spent some time in the UK house in return). There was a surprise double eviction, new housemate, and return by evicted housemate Jon Tickle for the last two weeks (he was not eligible to win, though he opted not to tell his housemates this). The £70,000 prize was eventually won by Cameron. Several housemates later had presenting or acting jobs.

Celebrity Big Brother - Season 4

Celebrity Big Brother 2006, also known as Celebrity Big Brother 4, was the fourth series of the British reality television series Celebrity Big Brother. It was broadcast on Channel 4 from 5 January 2006 until 27 January 2006, running for three weeks. The first housemate to enter the house (and the eventual winner) was Chantelle Houghton, a girl from Essex and the first non-celebrity in a celebrity series. Her first task was to convince her celebrity housemates that she was actually a genuine celebrity herself – failure would have meant that she would have been evicted on Day 4. She was told to play the character of a popstar from the fictitious girl group "Kandy Floss", and that her biggest 'hit' was "I Want It Right Now". She succeeded in convincing the other housemates, and was allowed to stay. This particular series was noted sometimes for its comedy, but more often for the extreme conflict that frequently broke out between the housemates versus Pete Burns' wearing of fur. Big Brother occasionally played on the conflict, or widening the already-present rift between them by encouraging each side to deceive one another in various events. According to Cowell, the reason given for sacking Brook was because the producers decided the format was "too complicated" with four judges. Auditions took place in Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, London and Cardiff. One of the most notable performances for the series was by Susan Boyle, a 48-year-old Scottish woman, during the auditions. Boyle sang "I Dreamed a Dream" from the musical Les Misérables. The performance earned a unanimous "yes" vote and resounding astonishment from the judges. Her performance helped lift the show to a launch record of 11.2 million viewers. Within five days of her initial appearance, YouTube recordings of the event had collectively generated more than 100 million views.

Big Brother Australia 2001 was the first series of Big Brother Australia. The season ran from 23 April 2001 until 16 July 2001, a duration of 86 days. The series was hosted by Gretel Killeen, who remained as the host until 2008. Potential contestants in the show were required to send video applications to the show's producers, in which they sold themselves as entertaining housemates. When compared to the more complex arrangements and many twists that emerged in later series, this season presented a rather basic set-up and formula which stuck closely to the traditional Big Brother concept. The main twist was the entrance of two Intruders about halfway through the series. The winner of the series was Ben Williams, and the runner-up was Blair McDonough, who later got a role in Network Ten's daily soap opera, Neighbours. It was the only series where housemates were allowed to nominate fellow housemates without a reason (something that is enforced strongly in later seasons). Sumner was a part of the cast of Britain's Next Top Model, Cycle 5, and was the 10th girl chosen to enter the top model house, due to her unconvential and unique look. However, Sumner's first week in the main part of the competition was a negative one, as Sumner struggled at the photoshoot and produced a weak photo. It was in the 4th episode that Sumner became a true stand-out, with her photo being deemed as the best in the bunch, earning her a first-call out. Afterwards, Sumner avoided the bottom two and produced strong photographs, but notably landed in the bottom two again in episode 8, for her seemingly bad attitude and know-it-all personality, however, the judges rejected the idea of Sumner being a know-it-all, saving her from the bottom two. Big Brother 1 was the first season of the American version of the international reality show Big Brother. At the time, the show was known as Big Brother 2000 like the international editions of the series, in which the year is used to classify the season instead of a number. It was the first series to be broadcast in English, premiering only days before the British version, however, in the British version, the housemates had gone into the house five days prior to the start of the U.S. version. Sixty-seven episodes aired from July 5 to September 29, 2000. Julie Chen, a host of CBS This Morning and The Early Show, was the host of the series. The season premiere is, as of 2012, the highest viewed episode in Big Brother history, being viewed by 22.40 million people. The series quickly dropped in viewers, and the season finale was viewed by 11.13 million viewers, less than half the amount that viewed the premiere. The series averaged a total of 9.10 viewers. The ratings decline of the series is often blamed on the fact that all of the "colorful" HouseGuests were banished in the first few weeks, leaving only boring people in the game. Although the success of Survivor: Borneo in the summer
