    CD Baby

CD Baby is an online music store specializing in the sale of CDs and digital music downloads from independent musicians to consumers. The company is also a digital aggregator of independent music recordings, distributing content to several online digital music retailers. CD Baby has achieved recent value as one of the few sources of information on physical CD sales in the independent music industry, surprising analysts by reporting continued increases in independent CD sales all the way through its most recent report at the end of 2008, apparently showing that independent CD sales move separately from the major label sales reported in the press. CD Baby was the trading name of Hit Media, Inc., a Nevada Corporation founded by Derek Sivers in 1997. Sivers sold CD Baby to Disc Makers in 2008 for what Sivers has reported to be $22 million, bequeathing, upon Sivers' death, the principal to a charitable trust for music education.; while alive, according to Sivers, it "pays out 5% of its value per year to me." The firm currently operates out of Portland, Oregon. CD Baby allows artists to set their price point for selling physical compact discs – CD Baby retains $4 of every CD sale, the

    Record label

    • Release of: Punkara
A record label is a brand and a trademark associated with the marketing of music recordings and music videos. Often, a record label is also a company that manages such brands and trademarks; coordinates the production, manufacture, distribution, marketing, promotion, and enforcement of copyright for sound recordings and music videos; conducts talent scouting and development of new artists ("artists and repertoire" or "A&R"); and maintains contracts with recording artists and their managers. The term "record label" derives from the circular label in the center of a vinyl record which prominently displays the manufacturer's name, along with other information. Within the music industry; most recording artists have become increasingly reliant upon record labels to broaden their consumer base, market their albums, and be both promoted and heard on mp3, radio, etc. and of course television also, with publicists that assist performers in positive media reports to market their merchandise, and make it available via stores and other media outlets. The Internet has increasingly been a way that some artists avoid costs and gain new audiences, as well as the use of videos in some cases, to

«Morphogenesis» proposes an initiation trip through the cultures and the Ages, where ancestral voices are confronted with the deafening silence of modernity. Within this second album, «Mind Necrosis Factor» mixes acoustic instruments and shooting rhythms, tribal cries and post-industrial atmospheres. More than genesis of a new shape, this album relates the emergence of a mind, from the obscurity of the first moments to pain cessation. It invites us to look beyond the flesh, to feel the breath of the hidden self inside us.

    RPM Challenge

    • Release of: Ao vivo em Sousas
The RPM Challenge is a creative challenge offered yearly to musicians, similar to other time-based challenges such as NaNoWriMo (the National Novel Writing Month held each November). RPM invites musicians to create a whole album of music, 10 songs or 35 minutes, in the month of February. This is not a contest so there is no winner. The challenge functions solely to give musicians a needed push towards finishing original material and help them achieve a sense of satisfaction. The challenge is open to all participants regardless of style, solo artists or groups, country of origin, language or theme. The albums are then made available for streaming and sharing via an online jukebox, and a listening party is held. The rules for the RPM challenge are simple. As it is not a contest, there is no monitoring or enforcement of the rules, aside from the March 1 deadline. While the rules are simple, a number of informal guidelines seem to also have been instituted either by being implied in the official rules, or through consensus of the participants. The challenge was begun in 2006 by staff at the Portsmouth NH alternative newspaper The Wire. The event was promoted in the paper, and CDs for

    At the River

    • Release of: At the River
"At the River" is a song by English electronica duo Groove Armada. It was released as a single in 1997 on 7" vinyl, limited to 500 copies. The song was later added to the track listing of their second album, Vertigo, released in April 1999. On 26 July 1999, the single was re-released on 12" and CD. This re-release peaked at number 19 in the UK Singles Chart. A sample of Patti Page's "Old Cape Cod" forms the basis of the song. The lines "If you're fond of sand dunes and salty air/Quaint little villages here and there" sung in Page's multi-tracked close-harmony, are repeated over and over, with the addition of synthesizer bass, slowed-down drums, and a bluesy trombone solo to produce a chill-out track. It was used in an advert for Marks & Spencer for their Christmas 2006 campaign. All songs were written by Andy Cato, except where noted.

    MP3

MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 Audio Layer III, more commonly referred to as MP3, is a patented encoding format for digital audio which uses a form of lossy data compression. It is a common audio format for consumer audio storage, as well as a de facto standard of digital audio compression for the transfer and playback of music on most digital audio players. MP3 is an audio-specific format that was designed by the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) as part of its MPEG-1 standard and later extended in MPEG-2 standard. The first MPEG subgroup – Audio group was formed by several teams of engineers at Fraunhofer IIS, University of Hannover, AT&T-Bell Labs, Thomson-Brandt, CCETT, and others. MPEG-1 Audio (MPEG-1 Part 3), which included MPEG-1 Audio Layer I, II and III was approved as a committee draft of ISO/IEC standard in 1991, finalised in 1992 and published in 1993 (ISO/IEC 11172-3:1993). Backwards compatible MPEG-2 Audio (MPEG-2 Part 3) with additional bit rates and sample rates was published in 1995 (ISO/IEC 13818-3:1995). The use in MP3 of a lossy compression algorithm is designed to greatly reduce the amount of data required to represent the audio recording and still sound like a faithful

    The American Album

    • Release of: The American Album
    • Track list: Zombies Ate My Tracker
The American Album is an album of 18 arrangement of music from various video game soundtracks exclusively created by American video game music composers. The album is Mazedude's first, and was conceived as an alternative to the overwhelming attention given to Japanese composers by video game music fans. Originally proposed as a concept for OneUp Studios, Mazedude instead made the decision to freely release the album online as a solo project and solicit for donations after considering several factors: his musical style not necessarily meshing well with other artists, game companies receiving the compulsory licensing fees rather than the composers, the cost of pressing CDs, and the potential unwillingness of consumers to pay for an album they haven't previously heard. The album's website features a feedback area where, alongside fan commentary, several of the composers honored on The American Album have already expressed their appreciation including Jack Wall, Tommy Tallarico, Jeremy Soule & Peter McConnell, as well as Doom lead designer John Romero. On June 14 2006, Mazedude released a Special Edition of the album with OGG format tracks, three additional completed arrangements,

    Vova West - Toreador

    • Release Date: 2011-08-31
    • Track list: Toreador
Vova West invades the roster of Nuwax Records with his signature “Made In Ukraine” sound. Toreador is a dancefloor house banger with a flamenco twist. Maximilian Staubtakes a punchier approach on this track taking it more towards the underground tech-house side. Playdoughboy’s remix is still melodic and has a flamenco flavor but it has a big-room sound while maintaining the tech-house elements. To finish off the release, Chris Distefano’s remix has an old-school acid-house feel. This is a definite must-have release!

    X&Y

    • Release Date: 2005
    • Release of: X&Y
    • Track list: Talk
Los sencillos extraídos del álbum incluyen "Speed of Sound", "Fix You", "Talk", "The Hardest Part", "What If" y "White Shadows"

    Justify

"Justify" is the second single released from the 2008 album, Black Roses by the Finnish rock band, The Rasmus. "Justify" is a slow, dark and emotional ballad with Nine Inch Nails influences. This is a very melodic song. The first demo for "Justify" was made in Los Angeles, California, at both James Michael's and Desmond Child's studios in January 2007. It was played live for the first time 26 August 2008, as an acoustic version at Radio SAW, Germany. The performance is found on YouTube. The idea of the song is compressed in the following sentence in its chorus: "It's only right, that I should go and find myself before I go and ruin someone else." The video for Justify was filmed on November 9. The video starts with the singer Lauri, confined to a chair, and as he starts to sing, tears of black come streaming down. The tears eventually end up rising at a fast pace and in the end flood over top of Lauri's head. The singer had to spend three days in the water to finish the video. The treatment idea came from Pauli, guitar player of the band.

Please welcome the debut EP from Swiss/Russian duo 101. The package is a two track deep house EP. The title track ‘Pick It Up’ is a groovy deep track for your lounge and opening sets. The synth work is all analog as these guys only work with hardware instruments, which gives them this warm sound that you’ve been missing for quite some time. The B-side ‘Dusty’ is more on the up side and will have any dancefloor rocking at any time. It’s already supported by I-Robots, Phil Agosta, Keith Lotta, Roman Stange, and many others.

    The Daily Mail / Staircase

"The Daily Mail" / "Staircase" is a 2011 single by the English alternative rock band Radiohead. It was released as a digital download on 19 December 2011 in WAV and MP3 formats. Both tracks are taken from the live video The King of Limbs – From the Basement. In an interview on BBC Radio 1, Radiohead guitarist Ed O'Brien explained that "The Daily Mail" had been "kicking around for at least six years"; when the band decided to perform the song for From the Basement, a final arrangement "came together within a week", featuring a brass section arranged by band member Jonny Greenwood. In an interview for BBC 6Music, O'Brien explained that "Staircase" was worked on before the recording of The King of Limbs, but did not progress beyond the demo stages until after the album's release.

    • Release Date: 1976-11-05
    • Release of: Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
    • Track list: Love at First Feel
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap is the second international studio album by Australian hard rock band AC/DC, released in December 1976 in Europe and delayed for release in the U.S. until April 1981. All songs were written by Angus Young, Malcolm Young, and Bon Scott. Originally released on Atlantic Records, it peaked at #3 and is currently certified 6x platinum by the RIAA. The album was re-released in 2003 as part of the AC/DC Remasters series. This edition of Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap is considerably different from the original Australian edition released in September 1976, featuring a different cover and track order. On this album, the Australian version's "R.I.P. (Rock in Peace)" and "Jailbreak" are replaced by "Rocker" (from 1975's T.N.T.) and "Love at First Feel", the latter being one of only two tracks from international AC/DC albums not available on the band's Australian albums. (The other is "Cold Hearted Man", released on European pressings of Powerage.) Conversely, several songs that are available on Australian AC/DC albums have not seen overseas release. However, "Love at First Feel" was released in Australia as a single. Though the international album was released by

    The Travels of Windimoto

    • Release of: The Travels of Windimoto
The Travels Of Windimoto is the debut EP by American dance music production duo Windimoto. The very first Windimoto session was a trial session to see if members Sean Haley and Scorpeze could work together creatively. The first session yielded "Midnight In Eden". After that session, Windimoto was formed. The duo continued to record demos in order to feel each other out and devise a working formula. The second Windimoto jam session yielded the basic instrumental track for "Don't Let Me Leave Alone". Plans were to refine the track and release it as an instrumental until Scorpeze played it for emcee/singer Phonte Coleman (Little Brother, The Foreign Exchange), who is a fan of house music. Coleman asked if he could put vocals on the track and the duo agreed. It was decided that Coleman would use an alias so that the song would stand or fall on its own merits. Coleman chose the alias Victor St. Clair. Coleman and newcomer Carlitta Durand also contributed vocals to "A Place For Us". The secret was revealed by a journalist in their review of the EP. In a very short time after the track was completed, Bay Area hip-hop label, Interdependent Media, showed interest in releasing the song. A

    • Release of: Move
    • Track list: The Way it Ends
Move is the long anticipated follow-up to 2008's Famine. The music is darker, the lyrics are bleaker. The planet is dying, they're printing money to burn it. Forming single-file into the abyss. They are trying to slow the inevitable; this is the sound of acceptance. Hateful Abandon present their despondent and angry reaction in Move. The sound remains uniquely their own, but progresses with new techniques and a harder attitude. A strong leading bass, twisting and ambient guitars, the percussive backbone from Swine, new electronic prominsence and the soulful roar of V/M! Influence remains from seventies and eighties visionaries Killing Joke, Public Image Ltd, Dead Can Dance, Joy Division, The Cure; and a background in Black Metal, though these are only pointers to the distinctive sound Hateful Abandon have managed to refine on Move. Lydon wailing like a Gull in my ears, E. Smith grunting-ah, Lemmy purring...Brindley and Price smashing lager and smoking the bass.

    A History of Now

    A History of Now

    • Release Date: 2011-02-08
    • Release of: A History of Now
    • Track list: A History of Now
Every moment has its story…welcome to the History of NOW! In a world which seems to change beyond recognition in the space of a heartbeat, Asian Dub Foundation meet the challenge with an electrifying new album. “A History of Now” is ADF in widescreen with a vast array of sonic weapons at their disposal, from the strings of CHI2 to the radical melodies of Nathan “Flutebox” Lee udating and expanding their sound considerably but still staying true to their distinctive genre-smashing spirit. The line-up that made “Punkara” has grown in ability and confidence and the twin vocal attack of Al Rumjen and Aktarvator are on top form. DJ Sun-J and guitarist Chandrasonic have shared the production duties this time and the musical territory swings from the familiar punky drum nʼ bass of “A New London Eye” and “Urgency Frequency” to the Indo -Dub of “Temple Siren (Fool Dem)” and “London to Tokyo” via the more contemplative textures of “In Another Life” and “Power of Ten”. Lead track “A History of Now” sets the lyrical tone for the album – “Too many ideas running round inside my brain…canʼt tell the difference between my TV, internet or me” and reminds us “You canʼt download the sun”. Fundamentally “A History of Now” is a powered-up meditation on the modern world, asking what kind of people we are becoming (“Urgency / Frequency “ ) and warning us about the dangers of becoming slaves to ever mutating new technology (“Futureproof”). There is a Japan only tribute to the great city of Tokyo, and also a special appearance by original ADF bassist Dr. Das on “This Land is not for Sale”. Whether we like it or not weʼre ALL living in the History of Now , so who could be a better guide than Asian Dub Foundation …

    L'Impératrice

    • Release Date: 2012-10-22
    • Track list: Le Baron Rouge
L’Impératrice (The Empress) is beautiful and crual. Maybe not even real, a Venus with graceful movements, whose haughty look recalls the burning heat of summer. She rules the groove and the hearts, and you will bow to her desire. The first opus will sound like a revelation, meteor dodging between funk, 90’ french house and hiphop. Her references to the joyful sound of our childhood and her melancholy journeys away from the earth. And the bass is more powerful than the Death Star, a bright sound, a ray that pierces the vastness of our suspicious minds. Don’t be scared, join the Empire.

    Early Morning

    Early Morning

    • Release Date: 2012-11-26
    • Track list: Early Morning
Early Morning. This record is like switching off the alarm clock just to dream another 5 minutes. Either way, only the shadow of an airy sleep can allow someone to intermix pop, electronic, hip hop loops, folk and a funk bass, all that with an unbearable lightness. Isaac Delusion make sleepwalking tunes. Made of dreamy ballads, always these vague landscapes, indefinable vastnesses and also time that is running through our fingers, a will to see elsewhere. It’s a happy marriage of genres, it’s all about blending, bluring, something spontaneous. Endless musical horizons, selecting samples and melodies on the sole criterion of emotion, and everything starts from there, then it just makes bubbles. The band is apart, it wanders while maintaining its identity - you can feel the “label with the elephant” philosophy floating around. A year ago, the duo barely existed, this is now a trio : the new bassist represents that ongoing musical evolution, and our three mysterious birds are still exploring. Midnight Sun drew its imagination from travels to Iceland and elsewhere, from experiments. All this has been amplifying lately, a few gigs in New York for CMJ Festival, Berlin, Barcelona and Warsaw, the Pitchfork Festival, Radio Nova, vinyl, encounters. Dreams actually stick to their skin. Just like it disappears when trying to catch one of them, their music is elusive. The first release was about sun at midnight, the second is about dawn. They are already working on a full length, because light can’t stop them dreaming awake.

    • Release of: Commit This to Memory
    • Track list: Attractive Today
Commit This to Memory was the sophomore album of Motion City Soundtrack and the band's follow up to I Am the Movie. The album was produced by Mark Hoppus and released on June 7, 2005, on Epitaph Records, then re-issued on June 20, 2006. Due to its popularity, the success of singles such as "Everything Is Alright" and "Hold Me Down", and all of the footage the band had shot but never released, the band decided to re-issue the album with one bonus track and a DVD featuring music and live videos. The DVD, titled "Hooray For The Madness," features 3 hours of footage, including a documentary on the band, all of their music videos (including a previously unreleased video for the song "L.G. Fuad"), and live footage from a secret show they did at 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis, MN in February 2006. The re-issue also features updated artwork similar to the original release and the bonus track "Invisible Monsters", which was originally released as a Japanese bonus track called "Monsters Invisible". A select few of the re-issues included a golden ticket which allows the owner of the album to go onstage during the 2006 Warped Tour. Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy and Mark Hoppus formerly

    Petits Charmes

    • Release Date: 2012-04-22
    • Track list: Petits Charmes
The fox is dead. Being a sly rascal, Renart confronts the fauna of the forest, and flies away like a Wyvern. Let him beguile you... Imagine a Fox-Pegasus with cherub wings, flying right throughsynthetic clouds. Music with mythological notes, this EP is a modern techno version of Fantasia, a history of hypnosis and psyche, made of insistent repetitions, memories of happy mornings, when stars are dying away. Acclaimed for his Voyage Chromatique on Dawn Records, the label of our brothers in arms in the city of Lyon, and for his powerful remix on Cracki’s first EP, he delivers here a deep, organic and surprisingly warmer sound than what he used to. As the result of an evolution or maybe just a step further into an ongoing musical journey... The thin muzzle canid reveals its Petits Charmes: he plays the guitar in a tale where his little brother becomes the hero, transposes a poem on dub techno, or blazes out colors from the beat, that sometimes go off at the bend of a kick.

    Sometimes I See

    • Release Date: 2011-12-11
    • Track list: Sometimes I See (vocal)
The man, who is all about love and house, has already several appreciated remixes in his bag of tricks: ‘Confiture’ for Renart (Dawn Records, Lyon), or ‘The Control’ for Sevenfive (Dead Speaker Office). Larcier is now working on a new record in collaboration with his friend Faon (Bordeaux, FR), coming out on Dawn Records. And of course, the ‘Sometimes I See EP’ has been released on Cracki Records december 11th 2011 : it’s a subtle mix of polished deep house and sweet folk, served on a platter of suave basslines, with Renart’s remix as a bonus. Larcier plays soft or loud, and always finds the right tune and tempo to make a dancefloor or a lawn go wild, like at Le Transbordeur (Nuits Sonores, Lyon), in the parisian factories of the Cracki Parties, at Heretic Cub in Bordeaux or Social Club, Paris. • Release Date: 2008-12-02
    • Release of: Famine (Or Into the Bellies of Worms)
    • Track list: Diamond Spine
With the recording of "Famine (or into the Bellies of Worms)" complete, it is now possible to state with absolute confidence: Hateful Abandon is England's finest, most unique new band. Dark pop, post-punk and a hint of black metal collide in dream-like anthems of deeply personal and lurid art. Hateful Abandon are genre-defining and totally unrestrained by any conventions. Instantly memorable songs are crafted with intricately textured guitars, an earthy bass and perfectly accented drums. The vocals are unparalleled and a brave contrast to the lazy, predictable efforts of many bands in any of the genres Hateful Abandon approaches. Battling between rich, deep, strong yet still human and fragile; and the most painful, retching screams. Famine is a landmark album, independent from any perceived contexts. It marks the beginning of a band about to tear through underground music.
