    The Darkling

    • Year Released: 1997
The Darkling is a Fantasy novel by author David Kesterton. It was published by Arkham House in 1982 in an edition of 3,126 copies. It was the author's first book. Because of editorial interference, all rights were restored to the author two years later. In 2011, the Authorized version of the book was published by Necrominster Press in a limited edition of 100 Collector's copies and 5 production copies (1 archive, 1 author's, 3 extra review copies). This caused The Darkling to be the only book ever published to have two first editions. The 2011 version was hand bound by the author with multiple unique identifiers, signed and numbered, with its unique identifier listed on the final printed page, as well as being laser engraved on the cover. This edition was intended primarily for libraries. Set in the distant future, a young tribesman, Maradek searches for his father, Afurad. In the course of this search, he helps to foil the forces that threaten the world's destruction.
