    1614 Low German Bible

    1614 Low German Bible

A 1614 Low German Bible is a rare, illustrated folio edition in Low German (Plattdüütsch) of Martin Luther's High German translation of the Bible. Illustrations in the bible are woodcuts from the Hans Stern publishing family in early Lüneburg, Germany. The bible's history was shaped primarily by: Martin Luther (Bible translator), Johannes Bugenhagen (scholar and pastor), Duke Augustus of Saxony, Hans Stern (bookbinder and publisher) and Johann Vogt (Bible printer). Martin Luther (1483–1546) was the first one to translate the Bible into German from the original languages in which it was written. Before Luther, any German translations of the Bible had been made mainly from Latin. Luther came to believe that salvation came by grace through faith in Christ as taught in the Bible, and he wanted to bring the Bible to the German people. Martin Luther was born in 1483 at Eisleben in Saxony. Luther began working on his translation in 1522 at Eisenach in Saxony. Martin Luther's six-part translation of the Bible was first published in 1534. At this time, Saxony was one of many separate states making up the land of Germany. Variant dialects of two basic languages were spoken in Germany: High

    First edition

    • Publisher: Feral Press, Inc.
    • Binding/format: Paperback
The bibliographical definition of an edition includes all copies of a book printed “from substantially the same setting of type,” including all minor typographical variants. The numbering of book editions is a special case of the wider field of revision control. The traditional conventions for numbering book editions evolved spontaneously for several centuries before any greater applied science of revision control became important to humanity, which did not occur until the era of widespread computing had arrived (when software and electronic publishing came into existence). The old and new aspects of book edition numbering (from before and since the advent of computing) are discussed below. According to the definition of edition above, a book printed today, by the same publisher, and from the same type as when it was first published, is still the first edition of that book to a bibliographer. However, book collectors generally use the term first edition to mean specifically the first print run of the first edition (aka "first edition, first impression"). Since World War II, books often include a number line (printer's key) that indicates the print run. A "first edition" per se is

    Harmonice Musices Odhecaton

    Harmonice Musices Odhecaton

    • Edition Of: Harmonice Musices Odhecaton
    • Publisher: Ottaviano Petrucci
The Harmonice Musices Odhecaton (also known simply as the Odhecaton) was an anthology of secular songs published by Ottaviano Petrucci in 1501 in Venice. It was the first book of music ever to be printed using movable type, and was hugely influential both in publishing in general, and in dissemination of the Franco-Flemish musical style. Seeing the business potential for music printing, in 1498 Petrucci had obtained an exclusive 20-year license for all printing activities related to music anywhere in the Venetian Republic. Three years later, in 1501, he brought out his first anthology, 96 secular songs, mostly polyphonic French chansons, for three or four voice parts, calling it the Harmonice musices odhecaton. For this work he printed two parts on the right-hand side of a page, and two parts on the left, so that four singers or instrumentalists could read from the same sheet. The type was probably designed, cut, and cast by Francesco Griffo and Jacomo Ungaro, both of whom were in Venice at the time. The collection included music by some of the most famous composers of the time, including Johannes Ockeghem, Josquin des Prez, Antoine Brumel, Antoine Busnois, Alexander Agricola,

The New Testament in the Original Greek

The New Testament in the Original Greek

The New Testament in the Original Greek is the name of a Greek-language version of the New Testament published in 1881. It is also known as the Westcott and Hort text, after its editors Brooke Foss Westcott (1825–1901) and Fenton John Anthony Hort (1828–1892). It is a critical text, compiled from some of the oldest New Testament fragments and texts that had been discovered at the time. The two editors worked together for 28 years. Westcott and Hort state: "[It is] our belief that even among the numerous unquestionably spurious readings of the New Testament there are no signs of deliberate falsification of the text for dogmatic purposes." According to Hort, "Knowledge of Documents should precede Final Judgments upon Readings". Two manuscripts were favoured by Westcott and Hort: Vaticanus and Sinaiticus. They also believed that the combination of Codex Bezae with the Old Latin and the Old Syriac represents the original form of the New Testament text, especially when it is shorter than other forms of the tradition. Westcott and Hort distinguished four text types in their studies. The most recent is Syrian, or Byzantine text-type, of which the newest example (thus from the critical

    Management cybernetics

    Management cybernetics

    • Edition Of: Management cybernetics
Management cybernetics is the field of cybernetics concerned with management and organizations. The notion of cybernetics and management was first introduced by Stafford Beer in the late 1950s. Complexity is inherent in dynamic systems because their processes are often non-linear and therefore hard to observe and control. However, the only way to overcome complexity is to realise its existence in the first place. Knowledge about how regulation, control and communication function in every form of system needs to be applied – this knowledge is known as cybernetics. Norbert Wiener defines cybernetics as the study of regulation, control and communications in life forms and the machine. In a business context, such an approach can help managers understand complex situations and therefore deal with them better. The following are a set of features specific to management cybernetics and the way in which it can be applied to a business context. Heinz von Foerster, one of the more prominent academics in the field of cybernetics, cited two forms of cybernetics. In the context of business, these forms are fundamentally different with regard to the way in which a system is observed. It is

    Juvenile Injustice: The Chicago Story

    Juvenile Injustice: The Chicago Story

    • Edition Of: Juvenile Injustice: The Chicago Story

Juvenile Injustice: The Chicago Story Author Country United States of America Language English Genre(s) Crime Publisher Author house Publication date December 30th, 2003 Media type Print (hardback, paperback ) Pages 349 ISBN ISBN 1-4140-2186-0 Jeff Benjamin, author of Juvenile Injustice: The Chicago Story, is a television analyst, who has appeared on Court TV, MSNBC and CBS numerous times. Jeff is also a producer for Tigist Films. His 1st book. JUVENILE INJUSTICE THE CHICAGO STORYBy Jeff Benjamin A true-life story of two young boys seven and eight who become the youngest accused murders ever charged with murder. The city of Chicago screams bloody murder. This story mirrors the movie Crash, A Time To Kill and To Kill A Mocking Bird. The story begins when two young African American boys become the youngest accused murderers in the history of the United States. The story exposes different kinds of social and multicultural differences and gives us a quick example of how these conducts affect our society. Two of the behaviors observed, are prejudice and stereotyping. Identified as the major causes leading up to the events of the two juveniles being charged with murder. These behaviors are viewed as thoughts and feelings and manifest itself in every aspect of the story. From the detective being pressured for results, who manifest his inner feelings on the society he is sworn to protect and serve. The book was written for the movie. In the opening scene which is the last chapters of the book the Police Chief of Chicago is on the witness stand and recounts the entire story as it unfolds from the witness stand.Ryan Harris a 12-year-old honor student vacationing on the south side of Chicago is found raped and murdered. During the investigation, the lead detective is pressured by city hall for results because of the public outcry. The lead detective a white Caucasian male presents a negative attitude towards the young black males. These feeling triggers of negative attitudes based on the assimilation and stereotypes because of the detectives prior experience with young black males. This negative attitude and violence observed in this story is perpetuated throughout the entire story. The trial of the young boys and their eventual release is an example of Prejudice, shown  as a negative feeling and predisposition of behavior towards blacks in the inner city. When the truth is revealed about the confession obtained from the boys a pattern develops and a review of the detectives background shows he used the same method in charging another 14 year old boy with murder. That boy is eventually released after the case is reviewed. The city of Chicago is turned on its heels when the real murder is eventually captured and convicted. The Mayor and the Chief of Police who publicly condemned the boys are forced to apologize. The story captures the age-old issue that has always existed in humanity, which we thought would have dissipated in the 21st century. Taking in count that now in the in days we are better informed and educated to understand that one group's actions should not be applied to stereotype an entire race. Juvenile Injustice exposes how children at a very young age are exposed to a predisposed notion,   prejudice is not simply an attitude that remains internal to its owner, it impacts and influences every ones behavior in the story. When the City Of Chicago’s negative attitudes on the basis of differences translate into behavior after the murder, we have as a result, discrimination and the social inequity it produces. Throwing the   entire city into turmoil involving the mayor and a public outcry from president elect Barack Obama who was a community organizer at the time.Juvenile Injustice shows an uncanny functional and respectful relationship between Ryan and her family and deviates to show prejudice and stereotypes can be a destructive force both in the world and in individual societies, especially in diverse ones. Throughout the story, Prejudice becomes threatening when it reaches its most extreme form, known as bigotry as the boys are found guilty before the facts are in. The lead Detective acting on his hatred  lead to behavior to what we now in days call "hate crime", such as in the scene where he plants the information on the boys to make them appear guilty. An  acts, which lead to the disgrace of an entire city. As residents of the north, side of Chicago had publicly stated in the press a fence should be built as a barrier between the North and South side of Chicago. This movie shows us the different point of view of people in our society, it gives us an insight of the stereotypes we have built within our society, within the world. It invites us to see and understand how such a small stereotype and negative attitude can go a long way and affect people in different ways. A powerful symbolism. The key to this story is its power and the children who were affected. Everyone identifies with children, the story exposes and examines the changing stereotypes, and prejudice is due largely to the effects adults make as individuals. The movie exposes the assumptions that we make about others and questions how these assumptions arise and where they came from. How Ryan’s murderer who had raped over sixteen girls and impregnated several others was able to continuously able to prey on children because of his gang affiliation and comb the area undetected. A powerful story that exposes extremists and their behavior even the people we trust like our Mayors and Chief of Police become so polarized that as individuals they are reduced to stereotyping even as they hold others to a higher standard. An unimaginable and unbelievable story of pride and prejudice of murder and mayhem.JUVENILE INJUSTICE THE CHICAGO STORY – A CLASSIC    His second book.                         The China Incident                                                                             ( By Jeff Benjamin)The China Incident is a very dramatic, suspenseful, action packed thriller that falls under the spectrum of Black Hawk Down and Top Gun it is  4th of July film. The story is based on true events that will inform the way the world views the contemporary US-China relationship. The U.S./China conflict is more than just a compelling story with an unbelievable plot. It is real life story with twist and turns and  continuous action. China itself remains a country of contradictions. It’s way of life and politics confounds most Westerners. There remains a strong interest in this mysterious country it’s dichotomies, it’s conflicts, its irreverent spirit and far away exotic beauty, a complicated political persona that boasts, one of the largest armies in the world. This story took seven years to write and  seven years of research including research trips to China. The story starts of with US Air Force, Captain  Jackson and his crew who were on a surveillance mission in their EP3 spy plane, get into an air combat with a Chinese F8. The F8 attempts to intercept them over  Chinese territorial waters. The Chinese F8 crashes into the sea.  The EP3 spy plane nose dives amid rapid decompression and falls 10,000 feet out of the sky. The 24-member crew miraculously averts ditching into the ocean and completes an emergency landing at Lingshui airbase on Hainan Island, China. The EP3 crew is taken captive and told they would stand trial for the death of the Chinese pilot. An unbelievable plot of espionage, rescue attempts and politics unfold in the ensuing true life drama. The story is filled with volatile and explosive, geopolitical information. After the collision, several nations hold their breath as political and military tensions between the two countries become exacerbated. The then new President George W. Bush sends destroyers to the south Pacific and Navy seals begin training off the coast of Baja for a possible assault on Hainan island.  There is an unease as the soldiers wonder if it is the beginning of World War 3. On the political side, the incident is termed accidental by the U.S. government but viewed as deliberate by the Chinese. The incident occurs on the eve of a decision by U.S. President George Bush to sell four high tech destroyers equipped with Aegis radar and patriot anti-missile systems to Taiwan . The rules of engagement have now become filled with tension and mistrust by both sides. This story is not only a dramatic  political and awe inspiring one, but more importantly, it purports to lift a veil on the inner workings of the Chinese government and vividly exposed their bid to dominate world opinion. New light is shed on a massive cover up of the incident from the beginning to the very end.The story exposes the inside working of the Chinese political establishment and details what truly happened behind the scenes. The research was done through  unreleased CIA documents and the actual investigations from the U.S. Navy and the State Department. These documents were never made public.  As you read below this information, will be new to you and cannot be found in any press reports because they were classified CIA documents. There are 10 segments listed below that have never been fully disclosed to the public, which opens up a whole new world about the event and what truly transpired. The most compelling from the thousands of documents declassified and recently released to me are the details surrounding the 11 days the 24-crew members spent in captivity. The exact nature of the crash, also, was never revealed to the public. The crews debriefing, interviews and evaluation are included in the released documents. The attempt to shoot down the EP3 and kill the 24 crew members aboard, the demands made by the Chinese Government, the bomb threats on the U.S. Embassy and attacks and demonstrations are all new vivid details revealed to me. Finally, the negotiations that the US entered into for the return of the EP3 have never been laid out.  None of this information was ever released to the media and China, as a communist country, never made this information public. Hence, this is now all being released seven years later. From Wang Wie’s (the Chinese pilot) death two days prior to his birthday and his mother lying on her deathbed in a Chinese hospital being broadcasted live on Chinese TV to the planned attack on the American Embassy, to the activation of spy cells in China by the CIA, not to mention the  continuous interrogation of the crew. After all the tension  filled arcs of this story, the US servicemen were freed and returned home to their families in the United States. The captured EP3 plane was feared to have been reverse-engineered by the Chinese, thereby rendering future use of the plane, ineffective.                                             THE CHINA INCIDENT My life as an Author is dedicated to telling the greatest true stories. This book is a poignant account of courage and valor, of victory and defeat, of humility and pride, of lies and truth, of America vs. China.  It is with and humbled dignity I write this book. The pride comes from my first venture into being an author. When I wroteJuvenile Injustice The Chicago Story. The book was written because of my conviction and belief, that two young boys seven and eight from the south side of Chicago were accused of murder they did not commit.A young community activist believed in my conviction that these boys were innocent and determinedly spoke out against it. Today I humbled to know this man is now the President of the United States.      Thanks to the State Department who worked tirelessly and relentlessly in providing me with the information needed to complete this project. To the United States Navy and the CIA for their  pursuit in locating the documents associated with this project. And last but not least thank you to all the men and women in the armed forces, for your bravery, courage and resolve in keeping our country safe.Several names and certain information and or details have been changed or left out due to national security concerns and for effect. The story itself remains a true account, of one of the most dramatic historical military events that ever faced our nation.  Patriotism is not learnt it is bred into the hearts of menBranded into their flesh at birth and burns like a fire deep in their soulPride and bravery is worn on their sleeve and displayed for the world to seeNo mountain to steep, No Ocean to deepPatriotism is a tonic prescribed by politiciansWith no stomach for it’s tasteLet me die with honor and valor a soldier’s deathFor god and country, for freedom and justiceI want to believe all men are created equalThat we are all born with goodness and honestyThat all which soils us, is learnt and not inherentThat the stench of politicians and that of vile and evil men never touches the ones we loveThat if we believe and have faith all things are possibleJeff Benjamin  5/10/2006         ChinaThe People’s Republic of China was established on October 1st 1949 by General Mao Zedong .   As the leader of the Chinese people, he installed the first five-year plan from 1953 to 1957 along with the start of the Hundred Flowers Campaign. The Hundred Flowers Campaign, which meant to let a hundred flowers bloom. Was initiated for scholars and intellects far and wide throughout China to voice their opinions. To make China a more open society and a better place. Once these scholars and intellects were identified, they were quickly rounded up and imprisoned or murdered. It is estimated over five million men and women died during this period.General Mao’s next campaign was called the Great Leap Forward, which lasted from 1959 to 1962 it is estimated during this time somewhere between 20 to 50 million people were exterminated.  The decision was made during the campaign of the Great Leap Forward that   China was to become a leader on the world stage. They would become a major exporter of grain, cheap labor and industrial building supplies. But China needed to pay for the technical assistance and for the raw materials from their allies. The resources would be taken  from the 20 to 50 million lost souls.General Mao is known   and recognized as a great poet, philosopher, calligrapher and leader, revered, idolized and worshiped by many. Time magazine named General Mao as one of the top 100, most important figures of the Century. Today China is a world leader militarily and economically.   USAIn 1949, President Harry S Truman began his second term as the thirty third President of the United States. The average price for a loaf of bread was twelve cents. The US GDP was $267.8 billion dollars. Federal spending was   $38.84 billion. The Dow Jones High/Low was 200/161, unemployment was   3.8% and the cost of a first class stamp was 3 cents, a gallon of Gas was 17 cents. President Truman used executive orders to desegregate the United States armed forces. A US Army Boeing 50-A made the first flight around the world, it flew for a total of 94 hours and one minute.  Americans were generally fat and happy. Currently the United States owes China roughly 1.4 Trillion dollars in total debt. The average price of a loaf of bread is $3.00 a first class stamp is 42 cents. Federal spending is 3 Trillion dollars. The US GDP is 14 Trillion dollars.Americans are generally hungry, out of work and unhappy with our economy, but through it all there is hope, because we have the greatest democracy in the world. When General Mao was introducing the Great Leap Forward 1959 to 1962 the extermination for progress.Dwight D. Eisenhower, the thirty-fourth President of the United States (1953-1961) showed why we will always be a step ahead and shoulders above the rest of the world and let me quote."Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.
This world in arms is not spending money alone.
It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.
The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities.
It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population.
It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals.
It is some 50 miles of concrete highway.
We pay for a single fighter with a half million bushels of wheat.
We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people.
This, I repeat, is not the best way of life to be found on the road the world has been taking.
This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."We believe in the first amendment and equality in truth and justice for all. When our founding fathers laid the framework for this great nation it was inclusive not exclusive.November 2008 signified the foundation of that framework by our founding fathers. For the first time in the history of our nation, the citizens of the United States elected a Black President.                                      THE CHINA INCIDENT

    Barnes & Noble Classics Collection

    Barnes & Noble Classics Collection

    • Edition Of: A Room with a View
Barnes & Noble began releasing adult literature classics around 1992 (according to copyright dates found in some of the books). The collection comprised 63 classics with two separate types of dustjackets: black and cream. The cream dustjacket collection appears to be exactly the same as the black dustjacket collection except with a few more included titles. This is because cream colored dustjackets were produced first. In late 1997 or early 1998, the dustjackets were converted to the black format. For each black dustjacket hardcover you can expect the same type of characteristics. There is a picture of some sort overlapping a black diamond centered on the front of the book. The outside of the diamond, in between the picture and the gold rectangle, is a color. For each book the color can be different. The spine of the book features the title in gold lettering, and both the author and "Barnes & Noble" in white lettering. The back of the book is the same as the front, but without the picture. Instead, a passage from the book is included, and the ISBN/bar code is located at the bottom of the diamond overlapping the background. During this same period of black and cream dustjackets,
