    Bronson

    • Year Released: 2008
Bronson is a 2008 British fictionalised biographical crime film directed by Nicolas Winding Refn and starring Tom Hardy. The film follows the life of notorious prisoner Michael Gordon Peterson, who was renamed Charles Bronson by his fight promoter. Born into a respectable middle class family, Peterson would nevertheless become one of the United Kingdom's most dangerous criminals, and is known for having spent almost his entire adult life in solitary confinement. Bronson is narrated with humour, blurring the line between comedy and horror. The film begins with Bronson introducing himself to the camera, stating he always wanted to be famous. He cannot sing, he cannot act, and so he shows the calling he found: the film cuts to a naked Bronson fighting several prison guards in a cage. The film then presents several assorted points from his life, intercut with Bronson on stage before an audience in several stages of performance make-up, and speaking directly to camera while seemingly behind bars. Michael Peterson is shown as a baby, and then as a young boy involved in fights with pupils and a teacher at school using a desk as a weapon. He had his first job at a chip shop, where he

    Pollyanna

    • Year Released: 2003
Pollyanna is a 2003 ITV film based on the bestselling Pollyanna written by late American author Eleanor H. Porter in the early twentieth century about a happy-go-lucky young girl who brings joy everywhere she goes. The book is set in Vermont, America, but the film is set in the English countryside. The film stars Amanda Burton as Aunt Polly and Georgina Terry as Pollyanna. Pollyanna (Georgina Terry) is a young girl whose father, a Reverend, has recently passed away. As her mother died when she was born, she has no one to look after her, so she goes to live with her wealthy aunt, Miss Polly Harrington (Amanda Burton). When she arrives in the village, she is greeted by her aunt, who acts extremely coldly towards her. However, Pollyanna does not take it personally, and continues to be a happy girl. She finds comfort in the servants, Nancy (Kate Ashfield), the maid, Tim (Tom Ellis), the driver and Old Tom (Tom Bell), the gardener, who even remembers Pollyanna's mother as he has worked for the Harringtons for a very long time. Pollyanna opens her room window, much to her aunt's annoyance, to get some air, and lets the flies in. She tries to talk about her father with her aunt, but her
